"Dear you, who is reading this letter, where are you and what are you doing now?
For me who's 15 years old, there are seeds of worries I can't tell anyone.
If it's a letter addressed to my future self, surely I can truly confide in myself.
Now, it seems that I'm about to be defeated and cry.
For someone who's seemingly about to disappear, whose words should I believe in?
...
Dear you, thank you. I have something to tell the 15 years old you.
If you continue asking what and where you should be going,
you'll be able to see the answer."
~"Tegami" - Angela Aki.
Been listening to this song since years ago and still loving it now.
If I could write a reply to my own 15 years old self... let's see, what would I write (beside the ones listed in the lyrics - the message is just so true and beautiful)
Oh yes, keep dreaming and looking out for your passions. Go anywhere you want to go. Overcome that innate shyness. Keep doing what you really love to do. Keep learning, keep writing, keep singing, keep moving, keep making your music. Keep challenge yourself to love the world as it is, however messy and hopeless it may seem to be.
You might have difficulties in throwing that baton, or hitting that lines of high notes in your trumpet scores. You might feel it's just plainly awkward to do those push ups, both in public and in your room. You might feel it's silly to write while biting a flashlight under your blanket. You might feel frustrated during one of those days - when nothing seems to improve around you and you wish you could stop caring. When you get that notice, you might feel like you would get sent back after a semester. You might think you will be lost in the cold. You might feel like giving up on yourself and simply disappear.
"Now please don't be defeated and please don't shed a tear.
During these times when you're seemingly about to disappear, just believe in your own voice.
For me as an adult, there are sleepless nights when I'm hurt
but I'm living the bittersweet present."
But please try to get some sleep and well, keep on believing. It's not going to be easy. There are a lot of things waiting for you. If you could, please try to trust yourself more than you do now. You might miss those things that you have right now. I believe you had realised that every moment is unique, irreplaceable and should be treasured. Don't forget that, too.
Now, if I'm to write another letter for myself in the future..
"Dear you, who is reading this letter,
I wish you happiness."
